We almost always use a vacation rental for extended vacations (longer than a week) - for the advantages of space, homelike atmosphere, full kitchen, etc. then you can have a quick breakfast or lunch without having to eat every meal out. In most cases, you do give up the benefit of housekeeping services, and laundry (towels/linens) service as well, along with other amenities you might find in a hotel (concierge, shuttles, taxi, etc.) If you plan to be on the go the whole time, a hotel might be a better choice. Rentals are a nicer place to settle-in. Look for interior photos on rentals, and it may also help to inquire if there is a management service available if you encounter any problems or aren't satisfied once you are there. If there is a reputable management company, you shouldn't have anything at all to fear. Hope you have an enjoyable holiday!
