Which are the safest areas to rent a vacation rental or book a hotel|||DC is the crime capital of the USA.|||There are very nice hotels in D.C., but "vacation rentals" are rare. You might look into a Bed and Breakfast if you'd like to stay in a private home rather than a hotel. Any location in the Northwest (NW) quadrant should be fine.
Check hotels on Expedia or Hotels.com. The sites are connected and seem to give the best rates and most information. You can select one that has breakfast included. For a longer stay, you might consider a suite-style hotel in the suburbs of Rockville or Gaithersburg, north of the city. Choose one that has a shuttle to Metro if you plan to sightsee and definitely book a professional tour.
You could also check out National Harbor. Just across the river from all of D.C.'s attractions, hotels there are running excellent specials. The area is really lovely, waterviews are spectacular, restaurants excellent and ambiance cool and calm. There is always entertainment on the weekends, too, most of which is free of charge. Water taxis can be booked to take you across the river to D.C. Just look at National Harbor and click on any of the hotels and resorts located there.|||For vacation rentals in DC try to get somewhere close to downtown or close to metro. Dupont circle and adams morgan are two good areas as they are close to lots of activity. I use vacation rentals when I travel and have even rented one in DC. I've found them to be safe and very comfortable, just make sure to use a reputable site. vrbo.com and homeaway.com are the ones I use, very good sites.|||dc really doesn't havce a vaction rental like you would find at the beach.
You really need to give more information so that we can answer.|||Try the Hotel at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. They have cheap rates.
